The retreat took place on 23rd – 25th January 2024 at the Imperial Golf View Hotel. The participants included representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister spearheaded by the Permanent Secretary, the Commissioner of Monitoring and Evaluation and the Commissioner of Strategic Coordination and Implementation among other OPM staff. Other MDAs including Ministry of Local Government, PDM Secretariat, Ministry of Water and Environment, Office of the President, STI Directorate, Parliament, Members of the Technical working groups i.e. National Planning Authority, Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development, Ministry of ICT and National Guidance and the Uganda Bureau of Statistics. Other participants will include representatives from the United Nations in Uganda, Development Partners, the Academia, CSOs and the Private Sector.

The retreat; developed an Implementation Framework for the UN SDG Summit 2023 Country commitments and the plans by the Technical Working Groups; deliberated on institutional modalities, shared and discussed performance and work plans for the SDG technical working groups with a view of implementing the UN SDG Summit Country Commitments; identified gaps in the different country integrated approaches, developed mechanisms to facilitate synergies and trade-offs in the integrated delivery of SDGs; and reviewed and finalized the SDG localization guidelines.
