On May 22, 2024, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Uganda hosted the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, marking the first such visit. She discussed strengthening the partnership between UNDP and the Ugandan government. The discussions emphasized leveraging UNDP’s technical expertise for Uganda’s development priorities, particularly in the context of the new 10-year Karamoja Regional Development Plan. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening policy frameworks, fostering multi-sectoral collaboration, and enhancing capacities through technical and financial support.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need for innovative funding modalities, such as blended finance and social impact investments, to support young innovators and entrepreneurs. Further, the Prime Minister talked about the integration of the Parish Development Model (PDM) into the fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV), stressing the alignment of institutional and governance structures, financial inclusion, and capacity building.
