On June 11, 2024, a webinar was held to discuss Uganda’s experience and progress in preparing the Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) for the upcoming High-Level Political Forum (HLPF). This event was part of the EvalForward community’s initiative, aimed at providing a platform for sharing best practices and lessons learned in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The focus was particularly on SDG2, which addresses zero hunger and the broader goals of food security, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture. The webinar highlighted several key takeaways for enhancing VNR processes. These include the necessity of robust data systems for accurate monitoring, the integration of evaluations to provide a more nuanced understanding of progress, and the importance of multi-sectoral coordination to address complex development challenges. The session also emphasized the value of international cooperation and peer learning, as exemplified by the involvement of FAO and DEval in supporting Uganda’s VNR preparations.
