On 9th-11th March 2022, the 4th African Youth Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Summit was held. The objectives of the summit were, (i) improve awareness and knowledge among the youth about the SDGs and their roles in the implementation, review and accountability process, (ii) discuss the mechanisms and strategies for localizing the SDGs and ensuring greater ownership by the youth, (iii) develop new and strengthen existing youth networks to engage and monitor the implementation of SDGs and (iv) advocate for effective participation of African Youth in SDG programmes affecting them.
Uganda was represented by the Minster for General Duties/ Focal Point Minister for SDGs Rt. Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba. In her remarks, she acknowledged the contribution of youth in realization of sustainable development and pledged to remain committed as Government to support youth and to understand the youth perspectives, needs and demands.
